With the situation that our central government takes the three dimensional rural issues seriously these years, the development of the agricultural vocational college and agricultural extension have been paid much more attention by researchers and decision makers. According to the difficulties that agricultural vocational education and agricultural extension faces, the thesis takes the development of these two institutions as a starting point, and with the aim of serving to society by strengthening the function of agricultural extension in agricultural vocational college to study.Firstly, it analyzes the necessity of strengthening the extension function in agricultural vocational college from the perspective of reality needing. Besides, it still studies this necessity by the view of two different disciplines. This part establishes a solid theory and real basis for the whole studying. Secondly, starting with the social circumstances, it sums up five main factors that restrict agricultural vocational college plays the function of agricultural extension smoothly, which as follows: the college's ability, the social system, the policy, the funds and the concept. Author takes the college's ability as priority among them, points out the problems from the aspects of specialty, faculty, management and demonstration field. In order to solve these problems and the restriction, the thesis studies the models and experiences of college plays the role of extension in Taiwan and Shaanxi provinces, and based on which, it poses some countermeasures to the government and agricultural vocational college. The countermeasures given to government are: integrating the agricultural science and education resources, building the information network, enlarging the financing number, eradicating the political project, setting up course developing project, building guarantee system, etc. The countermeasures given to colleges are: innovating the management model, adjusting the specialty, enhancing the faculty construction, making related stimulating mechanism, building demonstration field, checking the scientific project strictly, building a special fund, structuring the appraising system, building "green campus", establishing college's extension serving system and molding a good social image.
