A new round of educational curriculum innovation is being carried out on a nation-wide scale. The new learning method of Independence,Cooperation and Speculation that is advocated in the new biology curriculum is a challenge,as well as an innovation,to the conventional learning.The fundamental education of 2tst century is supposed to aim at developing students' scientific awareness on the basis of all-round development.Due to the fact that biology is a science built upon experimenting,experimenting is considered the factor of utmost importance in biology learning. Experimenting is one of the basic learning methods for students to learn biology,as well as an important component to the structure of biology teaching-and-learning amid middle schools.The enhancement of scientific awareness to biology for students depends largely on the implement of biology experimenting in school teaching.The experimenting teaching in biology can develop students' competence in speculating,thinking,conducting,and innovating.Such an important role experimenting teaching plays in biology teaching that makes it quite necessary for us teachers to renew our conception and improve our understanding towards it.Currently,one can hardly find any investigation and research data on the present experimenting teaching-and-learning status towards primary schools in Chong Qing.The article adopts the self-compiled Questionnaire on Biology Experimenting Teaching-and-Learning amid primary Schools in Chong Qing as the researching tool,and applies methods as questionnaire,interview, documentation collection to conduct investigations on the status quo among 4.56 biology teachers scattered in 182 middle schools in Chong Qing.The focus rests with.the comparison and study of experimenting teaching-and-learning between middle schools in towns and villages in Chong Qing. Mathematical statistics are applied in analyzing the data gained.As shown in the result,there are remarkable improvements on the biology experimenting teaching-and-learning ever since the implements of new curriculum in Chong Qing.Firstly,most biology teachers have applied the new methods from the new curriculum to their daily teachings according to the local situations.Secondly,some biology teachers are qualified with a relatively high-level of experimenting teaching,and have engaged in a deep research in the experimenting teaching.Thirdly,some middle schools in town have equipped with completed experimental facilities and appliances as models and wall maps.Last but not lease,most middle schools have conducted extracurricular activities on biology.Some problems still exist in the current experimental teaching-and-learning in Chong Qing. Firstly,the gap in teaching sources is wide between town schools and village schools.Secondly,the specialization of biology teachers and employment of specific biology experimenters is not satisfactory.Thirdly,biology has a low priority comparing to other subjects in middle schools. Fourthly,the status of biology teachers is relative low and,result in an unstable situation of biology teachers.Fifth,parts of the biology teachers lack the awareness to the researches on biology experimenting teaching-and-learning.On the basis of the investigation results and some related theories,and with the hope Of enhancing the quality of experimenting teaching-and-learning in Chong Qing,this article provides some strategies and suggestions.Firstly,education administration departments of all levels are supposed to pay much attention to biology experiment teaching-and-learning in junior middle school. Secondly,education administration departments of all teyels are supposed to take one step ahead to strengthen management on the biology curriculum.Thirdly,to build up the ranks of biology teachers. Fourthly,the biology experimenting courses should be set in a reasonable way to improve the teaching quality.Fifthly,to enrich the biology experiment sources in teaching.Sixthly,to call fora speculation and cooperation learning methods to the students.Seventhly,be determinative in the work regarding teaching researches,communications,leading and being an example as a teacher. Last,to change and improve the evaluation methods in regard to biology experimenting teaching-and-learning.
