The school is a special institution. What responsibilities the school should undertake is the focus of discussing as the development of schooling. This paper begins with the problem of Reduction for Students' Load, and finds that the position of the schooling function is wrong, as people cannot recognize the nature of education rightly. And the wrong knowledge make the school and the teacher confused. In order to break the confusion, combining the characteristics of our times and the lifelong education, this paper relocates the status and the responsibilities of schooling.In this study, the problem of Reduction for Students' Load which is to be a solution to the problems of schooling mainly refers to the problems of the way of naming and practicing. The former embodies that people misunderstand the word "load", the later embodies that people make mistakes in implementation process. This two problems not only make the reforms invalid, but also bring other problems. By analyzing the reasons of the problems, this paper finds that our schools bears three-pronged pressures from our society, family and their own. The three pressures result in the problem of Reduction for Students' Load. By analyzing the substance of the problems, this paper finds that people cannot recognize the nature of education rightly and have wrong knowledge for the function of the schooling. These wrong knowledge make the problems of Reduction for Students' Load not solved essentially.In order to fundamentally solve the problems of Reduction for Students' Load, it is the main condition to locate the schooling responsibility properly. So the study relocates the status of schooling from the society, education and the individual development. The study believes that the schooling is the "knot" in the "learning net", the starting point for the life-long education, and the life permits for everyone. On this basis, the study points out what are the responsibilities of schooling nowadays: one is teaching students to learn the fundamental knowledge, the other is teaching students to learn how to learn. If school couldn't undertake the responsibilities, the study would be the pressure to students' development in the future.This study includes five parts. The first part is the introduction of the paper, which introduces some relative background, methods and purpose of this research. The second, third and forth parts are the main body of this paper. The second part poses the problems of Reduction for Students' Load. It reveals itself problems of Reduction for Students' Load through analyzing the background, the theoretical research, the real practice and other aspects; the third part analyzes the problems of Reduction for Students' Load from the reasons and the substance of the problems; the forth part responses the problems of Reduction for Students' Load. It relocates the status and the responsibilities of the schooling with the times background and relative theories. The last part is the conclusion which believes that the correct knowledge of schooling load is the key to solve the problems, meanwhile, it points out the problems and the direction of the further research.
