This study collected materials through questionnaire survey and in-dept interview. Based on the relevant theories of social networks, this paper compares the interpersonal relationship in the middle 1990s with the present, and aims to describe the four latitudes of the social networks of the residents in the district of Xiaoshan.The first part includes the study background, the literature review, the conceptualization and the operation of concept. In addition, the framework, the hypothesis, and the research method of this study are also mentioned.The second part reviews the structure of social networks based on the comparison of the intercourse objects, the objects people seek for help and the inclination of communication of the residents around the middle of the 1990's with the present. The third part compares the social time and the social ways, furthermore it clarified the building and the maintaining of the relationship, describes the characters of the dynamics of social networks.The fourth part compared the etiquettes for giving gifts; the money people cost, the inclination for giving gifts and people's attitudes towards giving gifts. And then it displays the rules of social networks.The fifth part, it analyzes the difference of the intercourse object and communication ways of people from different education levels, then it disclose the character of the resource latitude of social networks.The last part includes the conclusion and discussion of this study. Based on the conclusion, it discussed the influence the modernity made to the social networks, including the modernity and the social emotional support, the modernity and the social ways etc. As well, the specialty, the significance and the limitation of the study are included in this part.
