The principal professionalization of elementary and middle school is necessary for the development of society and reform of basic education. At present, the principal professionalization of elementary and middle school has become one of common research topics, and many countries have made great program in theory and practice. In china, the research of elementary and middle school principal professionaliztaion is still in initial stage. The theoretical frame hasn't been limpid, and can't provide forceful theory support for the practice. Therefore, this research wants to made the further theory exploration of elementary and middle school principal professionalization,analyzed the practical problems of elementary and middle school principal professionalization in china, and proposed the strategies and suggestions based on drawing the experience of other countries.The research makes analysis on the nature and the features of principal professionalization, establishes a theory frame of elementary and middle school principal professionalization, and draw the following conclusion: The principal professionalization is the process and the result that the career of principal becomes a profession with special knowledge, abilities and special spirit. As a mature profession, principal should have scientific principal career criterions, perfect education and training system, perfect administration system and mature principal organizations. Besides, principal should have the feature of highly autonomy, should produce gigantic social and economic results, and have the highly social reputation and economic position.Based on the theory exploration, the research scans the current situation of the elementary and middle school principal professionalization in china, and finds the following situation: On one hand, our country has make certain achievement in the principal professionalization of elementary and middle school, especially in the principal training ; On the other hand , the principal professionalization of elementary and middle school as a whole is still at the starting phase in china, which is embodied in the lack of the principal career criterions, the imperfection of the principal education and training system, the imperfection of the principal administration system ,and the starting development stage of the principal organizations.According to the problems, the research draws the experience of other countries, and gives the strategies and advices in the four aspects as following: making the scientific career criterions, perfecting the education and training system of principal, perfecting the administration system of principal, and promoting the development of the principal organizations.
