Teachers' continuous education is an important part of teacher education, which plays a critical role in the smoothness of solving the "Three Questions of Farmers". Physical education teachers in primary and middle schools in the rural areas take on and fulfill the educational duties as to the all-round development of rural students, both mentally and physically, so their quality is directly linked to the success of quality education in rural areas. Continuous education is urgently needed among the PE teachers in the rural areas in West Sichuan. Because of the historical and present factors, the continuous education of the PE teachers in this part of area has its own characteristics. By way of investigation, research and analysis, it is quite meaningful to get to know the present situation of the continuous training of the PE teachers in this region, analyze the reasons of the existing problems and present some helpful advice, which is also a regional supplement and case study achievement.By using the methodology of consulting the reference books, surveying, statistics and logical analysis, the following dissertation targets at the PE teachers in rural areas in West Sichuan, makes a thorough research on the teaching goals, teaching training models, course construction contents and ways of evaluation, and compare and contrast the present situations of the continuous education there. Based on the research result above, the dissertation presents corresponding solutions and strategies. The survey shows the problems as follows: 1) the percentage of the different professional titles is unbalanced; 2) the institutions above county plays the most effective role in non-record education; 3) most of the teachers have positive attitude toward the importance of continuous education, but the problems in the practical process of carrying it out somewhat changed their idea; 4) the main purposes of the PE teachers in this region are various; etc.Based on the result and conclusion of the theoretical research and practical survey and investigations above, the dissertation presents some strategies and solutions as to the problems existing in the continuous education of PE teachers in the rural areas in West Sichuan. They are as follows: 1) The continuous education of PE teachers in the rural areas in West Sichuan has basically finished the stage of completion of certificates, so the stress of continuous education should be placed on the teachers' development of specialization. 2)The "bottleneck" of expenses on continuous education greatly limited the development of the continuous education of PE teachers in the rural areas in West Sichuan. 3) It is sensible to establish reasonable management systems and organizations to supervise, check, manage and implement the training projects. 4) The construction of continuous education courses should adapt to the latest theoretical research achievement, and at the same time meet the reasonable demands of the PE teachers in the rural areas in West Sichuan. Special attention should be put to train their morality of being teachers.
