At the end of the 19th century, the revolution in science and technology promoted the development of productivity. With entering the consumption society at first, consumerism becomes the major values of the USA. After the sixties of the 20th century, consumerism spread to the other countries rapidly, and entered our country at the end of the eighties. It had assaulted the consumption values of people in our country, especially that of adolescent. Under the influence of consumerism, so many young university students, though their situation of consumption demonstrated practicability, variety, modish and individualized characteristics on the whole, appeared unavoidable consumption mistaken ideas too, such as blindly high consumption, unrealistically comparing consumption, excessive consumption, and unreasonable consumption structure. These consumption pattern and ideas do not conform for the Socialist key value systems in our country, so we must scrutinize the influence of consumerism in university students, and the consequence caused by scarce of consuming moral education in university and family. In view of the harmful effects of the consumerism ideological trend that university students face at present, we need to strengthen the consumption moral education of university students urgently. We should arm university students with the hardworking and thrifty of traditional moral concept and the Socialist key value systems and make them break away from the influence of consumerism as soon as possible, then form a civilized, healthy, scientific life style.This text is divided into four parts altogether:The first part describes the source of the consumerism and its spread in our country. Consumerism evolved in U.S.A. at the end of the 19th century, it is a result that productivity developed into certain stage. It mainly shown consumption popularization of luxury goods and showing off consumption and extravagance and waste. From the eighties of the 20th century, consumerism began to overflow in our country, and caused great damage to our country.The second part inspects and ethical appraises to consumption ideas and consumption behavior of the contemporary university students in our country. As a special social group, their consumption mainly includes living consumption, study consumption, amusement consumption, communication consumption etc.. As a whole, the condition of consumption of university students is reasonable, but because of the influence of consumerism, many mistaken ideas exist in the consumption of university students too, which do not accord with the key value theory that the contemporary society advocates, and compare with our traditional virtue too.The third part has describes the important meaning and realistic condition that strengthens university student's of consuming moral education. Consuming moral education can not only help university students to abandon the wrong consumption pattern in the past , and form the correct consumption ideas, but can contribute to building the conservation-minded society, and promoting sustainable development.The forth part four is about the measures of moral education of consumption about contemporary university students. So we must carry on the moral education of consumption among the university students, and let them consume reasonably, establish the scientific consumption values, form the good consumption habit. In order to accomplish this, we must set out from school, family, society in different aspects, and carry on all-dimensional, multistoried moral education of consumption.
