| Since the 1990s, high schools around the country successfully established research focused classes according to reforms mandated by the Department of Education. In the last 10 years, Shanghai and other major cities made additional modification to these classes. These modifications focused on realism and hands-on approach to problem solving.The experience of these schools demonstrated that research learning are possible in high schools.This essay concentrates on understanding possible solutions, problems, and goals for establishing research focused high school history classes. Special attention is given to identifying main factors affecting the implementation process, and how these factors uncover and utilize the local curriculum resources. This essay also discusses support and complementary training and materials necessary for the new program. Finally, this essay experiments with combining different methods of teaching and links it with local Quanzhou experience to discuss the likelihood and importance of local curriculum resources in research focused history classes. |
