In the teaching process of colleges and universities, teachers' non-authority influences have direct effect on the change of students ' psychology and behavior as well as on the interactions of various factors in the teaching process, and have great impact on the teaching effects. The teaching effects will be doubled if it is used properly, otherwise, low effectiveness and even ineffectiveness in teaching will arise. Therefore, how non-authority influence is valued and how it is used is an important theme for college teachers. By means of literature review, theoric analysis, empirical summarization and case studies etc., this thesis has made an in-depth comprehensive and systematic analysis of the connotations, characteristics, structural factors and mechanism of college teachers' non-authority influence. It is proposed that teachers' non-authority influence be properly and thoroughly used to bring about positive effect on the practice and improvement of quality education in colleges and universities. Study in this aspect may have considerably great theoretic value for higher education research.Teachers' non-authority influence is generally featured as natural, underlying, universal and noncompulsory. It is mainly composed of the following four factors: teachers' knowledge and capabilities (teachers' knowledge and capabilities are positively related to their non-authority influence), teachers' temperaments and teaching styles, teachers' moral cultivation (teachers' moral cultivation has potential effect on students' morality, mood and behavior), teachers' emotional intelligence (teachers' positive emotional intelligence may result in students' friendliness to and common identity with teachers and theirwillingness to accept teachers' influence).The application of non-authority influence for teachers is usually influenced by such factors as teachers' social status, public attitudes towards teachers, campus culture, teacher-student relationship, and teachers' values, professional proficiency and behavior habits. Improvement of the non-authority influence of teachers relies on a comprehensive consideration of all the above factors and in-depth researches into the proper application of teachers' non-authority influence.It is held that proper use teachers' non-authority influence should be firstly based on an emphasis on democratic teaching environment other than a authority-centered illusion of teaching. Secondly, a relaxing and interactive teaching model should be developed to create a good teaching atmosphere. Thirdly, comprehensive teaching evaluation should be put into practice to improve the overall teaching quality. Fourthly, teachers' professional qualities should be enhanced to build a favorable image for teachers. And fifthly, campus culture should be heightened and protective mechanism should be provided for the teachers' comprehensive and harmonious development.
