Teacher's authority is the basic premise for the smooth development of educational and teaching activities,and it is also an indispensable key force for the orderly operation of educational activities.The presence or absence of teacher's authority will directly affect the effect of teacher's educational work and the realization of educational goals.However,the authority of teachers is not given off the shelf,but should be won and established by teachers.Novice teachers have just entered the post of teacher and are still in the stage of survival.What is their understanding of the establishment of teacher authority,what efforts have been made to realize the "absolute change" of teacher authority,and what results have been achieved is a topic worthy of attention but neglected.This research takes the first-line middle school novice teachers as the research object,trying to answer how the novice teachers understand the establishment of teachers' authority and how to carry out the practice of establishing teachers' authority.Therefore,it adopts the case study strategy of the qualitative research method,and specifically uses the interview method,the physical analysis method and the observation method to explore the process of establishing the authority of the novice middle school teachers,presenting the understanding,exploration and practice of teachers' authority in the vision of the new middle school teachers.The findings of this study are as follows: First,most novice teachers feel that teacher authority needs to be established only after facing challenges in educational reality.However,different teachers encounter different challenges at different times and types,which can be divided into three types: being defeated from the beginning,encountering resistance in the process and going smoothly all the time.Faced with specific encounters and challenges,the novice teachers have acquired various perceptions of the authority of teachers.Second,novice teachers mainly adopt two coping strategies in the process of establishing authority,namely self-exploration andseeking help from others.Specific measures for self-exploration can be divided into three types: pleasing,deterring and rational.People who ask for help from others involve teachers,parents of students and head teachers.According to the feedback from the students,the novice teachers constantly adjust their authority and set up measures to explore their own path.Third,the formation and acquisition of authority requires a process.In the current research,novice teachers have reflected on the practical effect of establishing their own authority.Some novice teachers think that their teacher authority has not been established under the influence of teachers' authority,subjects taught and students' characteristics.They still have no authority,while some teachers think that they have been established under the conditions of improving their professional ability,winning the trust of students and establishing a proper teacher-student relationship.The conclusion of this study is that the novice teachers have some difficulties in establishing authority,such as passive motivation of establishing authority,performing strategy of establishing authority,and self-defense of extrapolating responsibility.Therefore,this study proposes that in order to help novice teachers truly establish teacher authority,schools should provide support for the establishment of novice teacher authority: arrange suitable jobs and tasks,give sufficient time support and provide suitable training for novice teachers.At the same time,novice teachers themselves should also make efforts to establish a correct view of authority,and constantly reflect on their own exploration,develop practical knowledge and explore their own style of authority establishment.
