This study aims at finding out how to carry out the teaching strategies of cooperative learning by combining experiment and individual case study in terms of English teaching for 3rd year high school students. This study analyzes the process of the cooperative teaching strategies in experimental class and compares the scores between experimental class and control class by selecting classes with almost the same English proficiency level and which are taught by the same teaching faculties. The results tend to show that these two classes differ in terms of the total score of English language and individual subject of English. after the implementation of cooperative learning in the experimental class, the total scores are much higher than those of the control class. Students from experimental class achieve much higher scores than those from control class with respect to listening comprehension, vocabulary, reading and writing. In the low grade group, the students from experimental class perform better than those from control class in terms of reading and writing. In intermediate level group, students from experimental class are better in terms of listening comprehension, reading and writing while in high grade group, there is no striking difference in their scores. The changes in the scores together with the individual case study substantiate the fact that the implementation of cooperative teaching strategies to the increase of students' learning consciousness, cultivating their cooperative learning capacity and overall competence and development of their cooperative skills and enhancement of their mastery of English, thus improving their scores in English.
