Reading can be defined as a psychology process, in which information is transmitted from a great deal of language characters, and an efficient access, by which the information is absorbed, processed, and used with the increasing language level. Its main functions are transmitting science and culture, promoting knowledge, improving intelligence, educating ideology and culturing merit. Enhancing the reading efficiency is indispensable in the 21st century of high informative, high socialization and high efficient. Reading after school is meaningful with the advantages of highlighting the student subjective role, impelling the study willingness, culturing the psychological experiences during the personal and innovative reading process. However, the Chinese teaching in middle school is gradually losing its attraction, owning to the superficial awareness to the Chinese discipline by publics and the neglecting to the humanism and accumulation features of this discipline. As far as my practices to the Chinese teaching are concerned, the main problems of reading teaching after school are as follows: 1) the restrictions of examination-oriented education system to the extension reading; 2) low-level comprehensive ability of students, such as, a minor amount of reading, the narrow scope of knowledge, the poor understanding ability, the limitation to comprehensive analysis, and the lack of reading habit and self-study ability. Historically, the fundamental reasons of these problems are the impact of traditional examination-oriented education, the disadvantages of education system, the poor Chinese education ideas, and the influences of the theory, study is not equal to read.
