Against the background of new course reform, text extension has been a popular method to carry out Chinese teaching. However, owing to the insufficient research into and systematic knowledge about it, plus the disunity in the evaluation system, many teachers have a vague idea about what the extension should be. The application of the method is widespread, but there is no limit for it. Therefore, the extension lacks definite direction. It is not uncommon that Chinese lessons have become politics lessons, music lessons, painting lessons or a mixture of many lessons without their features.The paper elaborates on the connotations and denotations of the relevant concepts in text extension, and constructs the overall research framework from theory to practice. Aimed at the various problems in applying this method, the author offers some solutions. With reference to the theoretical research and teaching practice, the paper sets forth the principles to be followed in text extension, make it systematic and regular, and make it have definite aims, crystal-clear process, suitable contents and flexible and good methods. The author holds that the extension should be based on texts. Text extension should be Chinese lessons. The extension is a part of decoding a text, and can't be severed at will. It should make use of the accumulation of language, and have this accumulation as its purpose. In the meantime, it should be in harmony with the every step of classroom teaching. |
