The paper analyses the evaluation system of higher education in America with the methods of comparison and factor analysis. Beginning with some key concepts, it examines the historical development of the American higher education evaluation system. And then it analyses the status quo including objectives, subject, content, Characteristic, etc.. Moreover, it analyses the background, the legal guarantee and the functions of the Chinese higher education evaluation. Finally, by comparing the two evaluation systems between the two countries , the paper draws some experiences from the American higher education evaluation system, hoping that it can accelerate the development of the Chinese higher education evaluation system.
