Face (Mien-tzu) is an Chinese indigenous social psychological concept : it was frequently used in people's daily life. However, the cognition of face still remained in pre-science stage .The study tries to develop Face Idea Questionnaire (FIQ), and explore the correlation between face idea and interpersonal attraction.The study composes of two parts.Part J : Develop Face Idea Questionnaire. First, make group-interview with 200 college students. According to literature study and the interview, develop Face Idea Questionnaire. Then, using FIQ measure 479-coliege student's face idea and analyze the data. Ten factors were extracted from the questionnaire; 5 factors of the ten is extracted from positive face sub-questionnaire and the other 5 is from negative face sub-questionnaire. More analysis shows that the female are more sensitive than the male in 4 factors; students major in liberal art are more sensitive than students major in science in 3 factors.Part II: Similarity efface idea between college-student-friends. Subjects were asked to nominate one best friend in their class, and complete revised FIQ. As a result. 27 inter-selected friend dyads were identified. After analysis face idea between friend dyads, a conclusion can be drawn that inter-selected friends' face idea are more similar in 7-factor than non-friends'. The seven factors are "respect tradition and custom", "ability and achievement", "inter-personal relationship"(positive), "good appearance", "social acclaim", "negative and laziness", ''disability and failure". But friends are more different in "resist tradition and custom" factor of face idea than non-friends. As a whole, friends' face idea was more similar than non-friends".
