Aimed at the insufficiency existing in the teaching of Chinese reading, this paper takes a study from the point of view of "Reading on one's own", seeking it's theoretical basis and raising some relevant countermeasures.First, the paper elaborates the essence of reading and the aims and the importance of the teaching of reading. And then it shows the necessity of "Reading on one's own", and it reveals the possibility of "Reading on one's own" from the theory of constructionism .the theory of acceptism and the Standard of Course (Paper for experiment) three respects separately. And then it reveals the importance of "Reading on one's own ". It is beneficial to getting language sensations; feeling and realizing what has been got by oneself, appreciation of beauty and training abilities of reading on one's own.Under the guidance of the theory, the paper goes on to expounds the present situation of the teaching of reading and the reality which must be changed immediately. In the practice of " Reading on one's own", paper expounds from the respects of teaching materials and the "Reading on one's own " lessons and teaching in the cities and in the countryside . Teachers must bring the students' studying on their own into full play, not only when dealing with teaching materials but also when giving reading lessons. It is proved that the Reading on one's own" lessons are practical and effective not only in the cities but also in the remote mountainous districts. The paper inquires into the importance of "Reading on one's own" in the course of teaching of reading from both the theory and the practice two respects.
