The final purpose of education is to promote the overall development of youngsters' body and minds. However, in the process of it, morality is the spirit and it is also the guide of our words and deeds. In modern society, competition is very intense and material culture is more prosperous than any time before. At the same time, the morality of mankind is now facing all kinds of stern challenges. Therefore, to strengthen the education for youngsters' morality is the first thing to do.Conducling moral education with the help of advantages of a certain subject is the only way to realize moral potential efficiency. It is not only the need of developing educational resources of a certain subject but also the good way of increasing the artistic quality of moral education. The characteristics of geography determine that geographic teaching is practical and reasonable.Piaget,J. divides moral development of children into four periods. First, pre-morality period(agel-2). In this period, children don't have moral ideas. Second, other-discipline period (age 2-8). They judge right or wrong according to the results. Third, self-discipline period (age 8-12). They judge right and wrong not only by the results but also the ideas of the people who has made the mistake. Last, (after age 12), they connect rules with benefits of society and mankind to form deep-level quality. Kohlberg,L. divides children's moral cognition into three levels and six periods. First, pre-secular level(age 0-9).It consists of the periods of accepting or avoiding punishment and simple egoism. Second, secular level (age 9-15). It consists of the periods of asking for permission and respecting authority and keeping social orders.Third, later secular level(after age 16).It consists of the periods of carrying out rules and obeying laws and judging right and wrong by internal moral ideals and beliefs. Study tells us that the moral judgment level of students in junior middle school belongs to the second level and that of the students in senior middle school belongs to the fifth period. These theories and studying achievements provide scientific basis for us conducting moral education. In geographic teaching, we penetrate moral education mainly from below aspects :First, teachers should conduct dialectical materialism and atheism education to make the students understand materiality of nature, universality of contradiction, ect.Second, teachers should conduct patriotism education. For example, educations ofnature, policies, natural conditions, territory, national defenses, westen developing strategies, opening policy and market economic system, ect. Third, geographic and moral education, such as population, circumstances, resources, ecology, ect. Fourth, developing students' scientific spirits by geographic teaching. Teachers should use geographic scientific achievements to stimulate students and geographists'deeds to touch students. Fifth, penetrating aesthetic education into geographic teaching. Teachers use the beautiful things and forms in geographic subject and use beautiful teaching methods to stimulate the ability of appreciating beauty. Last, teachers penetrate law education to improve their consciousness of observing laws and disciplines. The methods of penetrating moral education in geographic teaching are: put moral education into daily classroom teaching-the main method; develop home geography teaching;put moral education into activities; making full use of internet resources; explore new evaluating methods.
