Critical thinking training is one of the hottest topical subjects of educational research both in China and the other countries in the world, and critical thinking is much helpful to training the Ss' creative spirit and competence of innovation. In China's traditional Chinese Language and Literature teaching, there is lack of the training of this thinking method. So the author begins with the definition of critical thinking, and then, after describing the educational research of critical thinking at home and abroad, analyses the reason for the lack of critical thinking in China's Chinese teaching and the possibility and necessity of training this kind of thinking method. Finally the author tries to make a further probe into training approaches within the two Chinese teaching modules: reading and appreciation, and, composition writing and communication. The whole dissertation can be divided into the following parts:Part one. Make a definition of what critical thinking is, referring to the kinds of previous statements of it: critical thinking is a kind of rational thinking, "a kind of intelligence quality being able to strictly estimate material for thinking and exactly check thinking process" in thinking activities, a kind of all-range thinking model which, on the basis of independent thinking, decides to accept or question the material for thinking with reason and self-criticism from time to time. Critical thinking has the following four characteristics: analyzable, independent, self criticizing and all-sided. Finally the author summarizes the present research actuality of critical thinking teaching at home and abroad.Part two. After simply describing the lack of critical thinking in traditional Chinese teaching, the author analyses the reason for it from the four aspects: the binding of traditional culture, the lag of teaching conception, the lag of educational theory research and the lack of accomplishment of critical thinking in teachers. Then the author further demonstrates the necessity and possibility of training critical thinking in Chinese teaching.Part three. The author makes a deep probe into the question of how to train the Ss' critical thinking in teaching reading and composition writing.A. Training critical thinking in teaching reading and appreciation. Bydiscussing the above three teaching methods, this section will state in detail how the teachers train the Ss' critical thinking in Chinese teaching with three methods of arousing the Ss' question, oppugning and disabusing the question.B. Training the Ss' critical thinking in composition writing and communication. This section first explains how the teachers train the Ss' critical thinking in composition writing with the methods of logical positivism and falsification, then tries to seek to the training ways of critical thinking by way of divergent thinking and convergent thinking, putting forward the two living attitudes: oppugning and criticizing, which are related to the model of composition teaching with critical thinking.All in all, there is no suspicion without criticizing, and there will be creation without suspicion. Therefore, critical thinking training is the key to creative education.
