The Chinese universities have witnessed the difficult historical development of credit system. The first credit system in new China was originated from the old China but was abandoned in 1952 when the education models from Russia were copied and turned to teaching year system which was used until 1977. Since its recover in 1978, credit system has gone through different stages and comes its new spring.The development of the new Chinese credit system has been influenced by social and historical factors, such as market economy, science technology, policies, traditional culture as well as education thoughts, management system, faculty design, teaching management system etc.Some issues faced in the credit system development in Chinese higher education such as its effect on personality development, views to elective system, tutorial system, teaching year system can be solved when we observe and analyze its historical development and its factors.
