| In the background of the current basic education curriculum reform and quality education,the development of Olympic Mathematics education in the primary school can play a catalytic role in the mathematics curriculum reform. But the reality is that the development of Olympic Mathematics education in the primary school has been controversial from the broad sectors of the community. There are supporters and opponents. Although pupils accompanied by parents, need to learn Mathematics Olympiad in each holiday. In the controversy, Olympic Mathematics in the primary school and the education of it become a hot topic and focus in the social. Although there are many documents on the Mathematical Olympiad and the value of Olympic Mathematics education, the study on the Olympic Mathematics education is very limited, especially lacking of a practical perspective to probe this issue. Therefore, this research of the Olympic Mathematics education in the primary school has practical significance.Firstly, this article clarifies the confusing concepts of Mathematical Olympiad, Olympic Mathematics, introduces Olympic Mathematics education in the primary school and summarizes the research about the value of the Olympic Mathematics education to provide reference and possible paths for the better development of Olympic Mathematics education in primary school. Secondly,through questionnaires to X District F Primary School in Shanghai, this article shows the status of Olympic Mathematics education in primary school and analyzes these issues, such as the contradiction of Olympic Mathematics and the primary Olympic Mathematics, the conflicts between Olympic Mathematics education in the primary school and the primary Olympic Mathematics, the contradiction of ideas and behavior of parents and the conflicts between education policy and implementation of the policy and so on. Finally, I attempt to propose further studies of Olympic Mathematics to be itself, dialectical analysis and rational attitude, a variety of learning opportunities to learners and parents, changes in the philosophy of education which focuses on ability rather than qualifications and balanced education resources and equal opportunity for all to learn against the problems of Olympic Mathematics education in primary school to provides a possible path for the better development of it and better growth and development of the students. |
