With the expansion of educational scale and the thorough reform of educational system, the"poor college students"as a universally-existed special group appear in most universities. As a result, the problem of"poor college students"gradually becomes a hot issue that China's society and colleges have to face. In order to solve the problem, from the point of invigorating the country through science, technology and education, Chinese government has adopted a series of scientific and effective measures to assist"poor college students", among which, the national scholarship, the assistantship etc. as the funding scholarship is a significant solution. But, the development of funding policy means the increase of work and difficulty for workers who deal with the issue. In the actual operation process, the assessment as the key aspect in funding system makes a lot of workers in the field of student management feel helpless. Through the study, the author found that there are several problems that are common in domestic universities about the assessment. Firstly, the standard for the evaluation of the object in university funding scholarship assessment are too general; secondly, there is no definite evaluation subject; thirdly, the method for assessment is too brief; fourthly, the procedure of assessment is too simple; Fifthly, the university funding scholarship assessment and ideological education are separated. In view of the above problems, the writer offers his own suggestions. Firstly, an objective standard for the assessment of the evaluation object should be established; secondly, a professional team for the assessment should be built; thirdly, quantitative assessment methods should be applied; fourthly, a strict working procedure should be formulated; fifthly, the ideological education about the funding scholarship should be strengthened.Taking School of Foreign Languages, Wuhan University of Science and Technology as an example, this paper will make a through study about the assessment of funding scholarship in universities and put forward some feasible solution for the assessment. The author hopes that his research will make some contribution to the promotion of education fairness and the constructing of harmonious campus.
