| With the increasing influence on the cultural industry and external communication, Film festivals in china, which are still in the early development period, have many problems in function orientation and management. This paper uses the theories of exhibition, economics, management and cultural industry to research and dig out the deep reasons of these problems and put forward countermeasures accordingly.Film festival has two main functions:cultural function and commercial function. The improper combination of these two kinds results in many problems. Film festivals in china have these function orientation problems. The cultural functions of Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) dissimilate into entertainment, while China (Guangzhou) International Documentary Film Festival (GZDOC) overemphasizes commercial functions and ignores cultural functions. So SIFF should return to cultural functions while GZDOC should emphasize cultural functions accordingly. As for management, this paper comes to the conclusion that film festival should take different management modes in different development periods. In introducing period, government organizing mode is proper. In growing period, government-market transition mode is valid, In the autumn, marketing mode is efficient. At present, film festivals in china are still in the first period, so government should be the main organizer, but management methods and extent should be refined. |
