A Study On Mechanism Of Development Of Creative Industry Along Suzhou Creek In Shanghai

Shanghai is under the transformation and special restructuring of urban industries with the global rising of creative industry. It is developing rapidly with the clustering of creative industry along Suzhou Creek, This paper focuses on the developing mechanism of creative industry along Suzhou Creek, aiming to reveal the stimulative and dynamic mechanism.This dissertation contains analysis of development course, present situation and statistics about entered enterprises based on the investigation about the districts. It concludes four types of innovative model based on the study about the forming of the agglomeration of creative industry: rent for architecture's workshop; self-exploring by bankrupted enterprises; creative estate development; and creative industry-oriented group development.Spaciously, instead of continous belt of creative industry, there will be agglomeration of different region with characteristics. There are three potential regions: Sihang"creative warehouse"region; M50 modern arts region; Zhoujiaqiao creative advertising region.This dissertation focuses on the three mechanism about the development of creative industry along Suzhou Creek. Namely, interactive mechanism between conservation of historic building and development of creative industry; mechanism of general promotion with government-led; mechanism of creative industries clustering. Kinds of historical constructions provide space for the development of creative industry. At the same time, the development of creative industry promotes conservation and utilization of historic buildings. The development of creative industries along Suzhou Creek is the concurrent result of government-led, district-operator and entered enterprises. And the development of agglomeration district follows the path of"formation—industrial formation—bio-formation".Based on the analysis of the investigation, this paper puts forward two potential way of agglomeration of creative industry. First, in arts-oriented creative industry district represented by M50, with the development of the cluster, rent, agglomeration of such enterprises in the district, the function of production will gradually be blurred while display, trading, consumption will be further strengthened. This could eventually form of modern art exhibition gathering area and recreational art district. The second is the creative design creative industries represented by"creative warehouse". This kind of district will become focus, high-end, resource sharing, interactive mutually promoting, and eventually become a network of interactive innovation and sharing.
