With the rise of the 80's, "Zhang Ailing-lust", many directors have tried to adapt her novels into movies, which is a wonderful. However, the academic study on the film adaptation of Zhang Ailing's novels, lack of more in-depth and comprehensive study.In this paper, firstly, integration and analysis on the theory support of adaptation cases is put forward, according to the conversion from text to video as well as the distinctive culture viewing between the writer and the director.Then, focus on the suitable and unsuitable characteristics of Zhang Ailing's novels, referring to film adaptation, film-based to view the existing opportunities and challenges in film adaptation of Zhang Ailing's novels.Although the deep literature characteristic of Zhang Ailing's books processes many tough obstacles for the conversion from text to image, the popular public taste, humanistic care and the unique "atmosphere Chang" that brings a high brand value as well as movie-able stimulate the trend of film adaptation from her work.On this basis above, this paper take these 5 articles of the film adaptation of Zhang Ailing's novels as an example to pursue the consideration of "art form and cultural orientation" and analyze the esthetics effect retaining and modifying in the process of adapting; make an outline the track of the conversion from text to image as well as the different viewers between the writer and the director; conclude the creative the film adaptation in the pursuit of artistic expression and aesthetic attempt; dig the artistic value of adaptation films.Respectively, the 5 adaptation shows different strategies: "Love in a Fallen City" due to an excessive pursuit of the original work, so reduce the initiative afterward, which is contrary to the identity of films, then result into a unsmooth narrative and some unexpected plot; " Red Rose White Rose, "directed by the original novel citing some context as voice-over and subtitle in the movie. Such a"defy world opinion"is to create peculiar charm." Eighteens Springs " , this adaptation takes the trade-offs strategy towards to the original novel that is closer to the Zhang Ailing style; in "Lust, Caution" and " Rouge of the North ", different directors shows different choosing of culture, and the films brings a totally different style and individual pursuit with the original novel as.In this paper, make the adaptation of Zhang Ai-ling's novels as a cut-into search the film adaptation theory. Observe the suitable features for novel adaptation to describe the specific adaptation strategy and the success or failure in it. Hope could provide the practice of contemporary adaptation film, in particular, for Zhang's stories, with a viable reference and a new viewer.
