Mikhail Afanas'evich Bulgakov(1891-1940)was a classical author, who was one of important authors of Russian regressive literature in the history of Russian literature in the 20th century. His thought of humanism played a significant role in the history of Russian Literature. The novel"The Heart of a Dog"was the peak of his most representative works in Bulgakov's absurd and ironic ones in 1920s. The novel that told an absurd story about changing a dog into a person described the characters'words, behaviors, thought, morality, and the value contradiction between them calmly and accurately. Besides, it exposed many moral problems in Soviet society new life and indicated the coming social disaster in order to arouse people's gracious humanism. The story reflected the writer's consistent seek for life and survival, much longing for ideal and happy life and the untiring seek for humanism in the new time of social development through the figures'attitudes of philosophical problem about human, ethics and morality.The idea and content of the novel"The Heart of a Dog"was complicated and profound, and the storyline was weird and fantastic. The author used a series of writing skills artistically in order to work closely for his solemn thought of humanism. My thesis chiefly expounds the writer's thought of humanism. There are three chapters in my thesis.The first chapter expounds the novel author's grown career and literature creation, and the novel's background, writing idea and content, and analyses deeply the writer's profound meaning of humanistic idea.The second chapter around with three primary characters, I emphasize the characters'humanistic sense of value so as to understand the author's thought of humanism deeply.The third chapter describes the art of fiction has artistic characteristic: They are the obvious and theatrical tendencies, and the theatrical conflicts among the characters'sense of value, the review to the problem about science, ethics and morality as well as its meaning and influence.By researching the Bulgakov's novel"The Heart of a Dog", we sincerely feel that the author payed much attention to humanism and showed his praise and admiration on it. The spirit is worth to pursue for all our life.
