A Study On The Relationship Between Elderly People's Satisfaction Of Community Environment And Community Attachment

Community attachment is community dwellers'recognition, passion and cohesion of the areas they live and the culture they belong to. The satisfaction of community environment is residents'subjective evaluation and overall feel for their community environment. This study put forward theoretical concept of the satisfaction of community environment based on literature review and open questionnaire.Then, the study drew up the questionnaire of elderly people's satisfaction of community environment and the questionnaire of community attachment on basis of the theoretical concept.Besides,the reliability and validity of questionnaire have been tested. Later, the questionnaire was conducted to 200 elderly people and the data were analysed in terms of gender, age, marriage condition, educational level and other factors. To deeply understand the relationship between community attachment and the satisfaction of community environment, correlation analysis and regression analysis were made for the two variables. Finally, the two variables were compared between the old community and new community. Through research, the study found that:(1)Elderly people of different gender in the satisfaction of community environment and community attachment does not exist significant differences; different age groups of elderly people in the satisfaction of community environment and the total scores of community attachment exists significant differences.People of 60-70 years old have lower community attachment and lower satisfaction of community environment than those of 70-80. Those who have spouses have higher community attachment and satisfaction of community environment than those who have lost their spouses. Elderly people who get higher education have a higher level of community attachment and the satisfaction of cummunity environment than those who are not well-educated. But there is no significant differences existing in the different levels of education.(2) The satisfaction of community environment and community attachment of elderly people exist significant positive correlation.(3) The satisfaction of community environment includes the natural environment satisfaction, service environment satisfaction, interpersonal environment satisfaction, consisting with the theoretical concept. Service environment satisfaction for the community environment plays a largest role in the prediction, followed by interpersonal environment satisfaction, which is inconsistent with the assumption.(4) New and old community exist significant differences in the satisfaction of community environment and community attachment; new community has higher community attachment than the old community .
