The Quantitative Analysis Of Revising Of The 5^th Edition Of "Contemporary Chinese Dictionary"

This thesis is a quantitative analysis about the contrast between the old and new edition of"Contemporary Chinese Dictionary"—the 4th edition and the 5th edition.It involves four aspects:(1)the revision of sense including the supplement of sense, expurgation of sense , separation and incorporation of sense;(2) the revision of definition including the supplement of definition, expurgation of definition,replacement of definition and so on;(3) the revision of examples including the supplement of examples, separation of examples,replacement of examples and readjusting position of examples.(4) the revision of words including the supplement and expurgation of words.Since there has never been a comprehensive sduty covering all the differences between the two edition of"Contemporary Chinese Dictionary",we extract these differences for an elementary analysis.Every revision of"Contemporary Chinese Dictionary"can influence compiling Chinese dictionary and afford material to the history of criterion of Chinese language.We hope this thesis may reflect what we said above and can show something about the tack of the development of the modern Chinese language.
