Modern Chinese Standard Dictionary is one of the most influential dictionaries in theacademic circle.Its purpose and mission is to promote the ues and the standardization ofmodern Chinese. Since the first edition published in2004,it has caused widespread concern ofthe community.After six years,the second edition published in June2010,which has furtherrevised and improved. This thesis,which based on quantitative study and contrastive analysis,primarily discusses the main differences between the old and new edition of Modern ChineseStandard Dictionary.We can divide this paper into five parts:In the first chapter,we briefly introduce the content and the methods of this article,as wellas the investigative situation, so as to clarify the purpose and significance of this study.The second chapter focuses on the situation of entry revision.Firstly, we describe thebasic situation of the word amendments,and then analysis the new words in detail,include thecharacteristics and the sources of these words.The third chapter primarily clarify the the basic situation of senses revision. What’smore,we analysis the new senses in four aspects,and also discuss the way that the new sensesproduced.In the fourth chapter,we firstly describe the differences on lexical category between thetwo editions.Then we reveal the two main features of the lexical category on that basis.The fifth part point out some of the problems that may exist in the revision,including thecollection of new words,shaped words and abbreviations etc.The last part is the summary of the whole content and the conclusions of this study. |
