The tomb of the king of south Yue in Guangzhou is the tomb of Zhao Hu,the second king of south Yue in Western Han Dynasty.More than 240 pieces of jade have been unearthed in this tomb.There are 10 species of wares,most of them are unique in the modeling and the carved technique is exquisite.In addition,the tomb is well-preserved,and is not resurrected.The jade ware here is, therefore,the precious physical data for studying the system jade usage and the style of that time.In this paper,the author first analyzes the factors which affected the modeling of the jade ware unearthed from the tomb of the king of south Yue and the system of jade usage from the perspective of the history and the culture of South Yue.The author then analyzes the modeling of jade ware combined with the unearthed environment.Finally,the author classifies the regional style and the era style of jade modeling and discusses about the uniqueness of the jade ware in the tomb of the king of south Yue.In this paper,the author made comprehensive researches on the jade ware in the tomb of the king of south Yue by the ways of cultural history,sociology and archeology.The author studied the cause of the uniqueness of jade ware in the tomb of the king of south Yue through the analysis of the complicated relationships between politics,culture and the modeling of jade ware in the tomb of the king of south Yue.Though the jade ware in the tomb of the king of south Yue belongs to Han cultural system,it is not typical.In this paper,the author puts forward the concept of big Han dynasty jade in the research area of jade ware and we need to make researches on jade ware according to its region and time.
