With the development of economy, all professions and trades need all kinds of vocational talents with special technology and English language abilities. English has become an important language tool to participate in the international communication and competitions. This also means English language teaching in Secondary Vocational Schools should be emphasized on the students' language abilities in the future, so as to match the need of economic development and market economy. But the current situation of English teaching is still not satisfactory. According to the previous documents, the available researches mainly focus on English teaching in primary schools, middle schools and colleges. There is little research on English teaching in Secondary Vocational Schools. How should it be taught in Secondary Vocational Schools? How to improve the students' English language abilities? These are worthy questions for the English teachers of Secondary Vocational Schools to seriously think about. This thesis explores the deficiencies through test, investigation and interview. By doing so, it aims to construct better English teaching mode for Secondary Vocational Schools so as to promote its teaching reform and improve students' English ability.The whole thesis consists of four parts:Part One is the introduction which states the background and the practical significance of the study and the structure of this thesis.Part Two is the literature review, discussing the related theories and describing the present situation on Secondary Vocational Schools in domestic and foreign countries.Part Three is an empirical study which describes the methodology of the study and analyzes the changes taking place in the reform and their causes.Part Four is the conclusion which summarizes the research findings and a new English teaching mode suitable for Secondary Vocational Schools. And at the same time there are some suggestions for the teachers and some limitations of the research.
