A Study On Zhang Penghe Of The Qing Dynasty

Zheng Penghe, famous as "doing solid work", was an minister of Han people in Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. Owing to his honest and upright,hardworking and sympathy, he was appreciated and promoted by the Emperor Shengzu. Being an official for 50-odd year, Zhang Penghe served as an local official for 35 years and accumulated plentiful experiences of being an local official. He was noted for river affairs. During the period of his being the governor-general of the river course from the year 39 of Kangxi to the year 47 of Kangxi , he studied intensively the theory of harnessing river, on the basis of inheriting predecessor's experiences of harnessing river together with the real conditions , he massively conducted the projects of harnessing the Yellow River,Huai River,Canal, making remarkable contributions to harness the river course. He was adept in poem and paintings and wrote abundant books. His poems had extensive themes and various literary genre.Zhang Penghe was in a crucial period in which the Emperor Shengzu vigorously strove for the thriving and flourishing country and the Qing Dynasty advanced towards the prosperity and strength. Through comprehensively,deeply studying Zhang Penghe's deeds of all his life , exploring his functions in this historical period, analyzing his style of administration and relationship with the guideline of running a country of the Emperor Shengzu. Therefore, we can not only deeply recognize Zhang Penghe, but also have more understanding about administration of local official,river affairs in Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, meanwhile comprehensive clearly historical status in politics and literature Zhang's family which was represented by Zhang Penghe had achieved in Sui Ning county in Si Chuan province in the Qing Dynasty. The thesis mainly fall into four parts to probe into Zhang Penghe . The first chapter: Introduce Zhang Penghe's life and his family .The second chapter: Expound elaborately his official career ,from which embody his administering ability and style. The third chapter: Discuss his process of harnessing river, from which reflect his strategy of harnessing river. The fourth chapter: From four aspects : honest and upright for politics,diligence and cautiousness for the public , enlightenment and cultivation for the first,loyalty and filial piety for the root, achievement of harnessing river together with its limitations , accomplishment of literature to explore his success and failure . The last: Concluding remarks.
