Studies On Qin Bian Ji Lue

Qin Bian Ji Lue is one of the most important historical documents about Shanxi and Gansu districts in the reign of Emperor Kang Xi of the Qing Dynasty. On the basis of the previous research, the thesis intends to make some fresh ideas in the following research aspects.Firstly, the thesis approves in a different way the opinion that Qin Bian Ji Lue was written by Liang Fen. However, different evaluation given to Huang Yanzan is that though there are some different statements in Huang's autobiographic note, they are reasonable in a sense. As one of the adherents of Huang Yanzan, Liang Fen was financially supported to travel every part in the west of Yellow River. In fact, Huang Yanzan was one of the initiators for the book and offered Liang some writing materials. Therefore, it is unfair to criticize Huang Yanzan for gaining the fame of the author of Qin Bian Ji Lue by deceiving the public.Secondly, a fresh idea is given in the aspect of Liang Fen's ideology and motivation in his writing of Qin Bian Ji Lue. From the author's point of view, the purpose of the book is not to show sympathy to Gerdan, the opinion held by a Japanese historian Neitenghucilang, or not to advocate to defend the Han nationality against the other minorities, the viewpoint in Qian Yan written by the History Department of Qinhai Normal University, but to embody the application of the theory. In the thesis Liang Fen's thoughts and motivation of the book are analyzed in detail in the way of era background and origins of ideology. Liang Fen changed ideologically in the similar way some other ideologists did at the end of Ming Dynasty such as Gu Yanwu, Wei Xi, Gu Zuyu, who advocated the application of theory. When they found it impossible to oppose Qing Dynasty, they hope to do something practical to benefit people and future generations. A good case in point is that Liang Fen made a good study of Gerdan. He had a great foresight as to the tendency of relationship between Qing authorities and Zhunger tribe and he detected the threat of Gerdan and Zhunger tribe earlier and in a broader sense than Qing authorities. The real purpose of his Qin Bian Ji Lue is to warn Qing authorities against the invasion of Gerdan in order to secure peaceful life of the people.Besides, the importance of Qin Bian Ji Lue is reevaluated in the thesis. In comparison, He Tao Zhi written in the reign of Qian Long quoted many parts from Qin Bian Ji Lue, so that it can be easily proved that Qin Bian Ji Lue is highly valuable historically.
