The scholars have the same opinion about the definition of the general range adverb: General range adverb is the word which modify the predicative structure(some special general range adverb may modify the nominal structure)in the syntactic structure and the semantics of them is oriented to the subject or the object that have relation to predicate. The classification of the characters is very important in the research of Chinese character history, and the research of the adverb is more important in it. In this article, we choice one kind of the adverb——General range adverb. we hope the research results value in the historical study of Chinese.This article include three parts:PartⅠ: Preface. It include three specific parts: the first part is the summary of research on the general range adverbs in ancient times. The second part is the goal and the method of research considering this particle. The third part is providing the standard of judging general range adverbs and dividing them.PartⅡ:The summary research of the general range adverb. It includes two specific parts:1. The summary research of the general range adverb system. In this part, we know that general range adverb mostly from some verbs. There are not many general range adverbs in our ancient time. But the number of them increases from Wei Jin Dynasty. In Qing Dynasty, the number of Monosyllabic general range adverb is mostly the same as the number of Multi-syllable general range adverb.2 .The research results of some general range adverbs that the scholars have different opinions. In this part, we analyzed some specific general range adverb which the scholars have different opinions, the specific general range adverbs are:Jie(皆),Fan(凡),Xian(咸),Xi(悉),Bing.Bing(并,並),Zong(总),Quan(全),Le(了),Dou(都),Yi,Yigi(一,一概). The conclusion is:(1) The scholars have different opinions about whether some general range adverbs appeared in the inscriptions on bones. These general range adverbs include: Jie(皆), Xian(咸), Bing(並).(2) The scholars have different opinions about which kind of characters some general range adverbs belonged to. These general range adverbs include: Fan(凡), Quan(全), Le(了), Dou(都).(3) The scholars have different opinions about the generation of some general range adverbs。these general range adverbs include :Jie(皆),Xian(咸),Bing(並),Quan(全),Zong(总),Dou(都).(4) The scholars have different opinions about the origin of some general range adverbs。these general range adverbs include:Xian(咸),Quan(全).(5) Some different parts which the general range adverbs point to: Fan(凡),Le(了) point to the part behind them. Dou(都),Jie(皆),Quan(全),Zong(总),Xi(悉),Xian(咸),Yi(一),Bing(并) point to the part before them or behind them.PartⅢ:Conclusion. The scope of the historical research tends to depth. Semantic research method and syntactic structure research method combined. Inadequacy of the research on general range adverbs is the research on the Modern general range adverbs also not thorough enough, the Multi-tone umbrella of the general range adverbs study also not thorough enough.
