The Logic Thought Of China In "Mohist Debate"

There has always been some disagreement in Logic field about the existence and the contents of Chinese logic thought. Has there ever been logic thought in Chinese history? What method should we use to study Chinese logic thought? These are the problems that scholars have always been intensely discussing, whereas till now there is no unified answer. I chose "Mohist Debate" to study because the logic thought of Mohist plays an important role in the history of Chinese culture and logic thought. It is one of the most successful theories in Chinese ancient logic thought, so that "Mohist Debate" is the hot spot that scholars have been studying in modern times. It is reasonable and inevitable about the existence of Mohist logic thought as well as Chinese logic thought. I wrote this thesis for the purpose of elaborating the position of Mohist logic thought, through analyzing, and the contents and characteristics of Chinese logic thought.There are five parts in this thesis. The first part is introduction, which the various kinds of definitions of logic, logic thought and the differences and relation between both is expounded.The second part is the logic thought in "Mohist Debate". The emergence and development of every branch of science can live by no means without specific history and social background. So at the beginning of this part the history background of the emergence of Mohist Debate's logic thought is discussed, and then its contents is analyzed in detail.The third part is "Mohist Debate" and Chinese logic thought. The reason why I chose "Mohist Debate" to study is that it is one of the most successful theories in Chinese ancient logic thought. The study of it can make us understand Chinese logic thought more properly. The derivation,central problems,characteristics of judge and reasoning in "Mohist Debate" is analyzed.The fourth part is the characteristics of Chinese logic thought. It is analyzed that because of the special characteristics of Chinese language, Chinese logic thought has its own feature. Then I expound that Chinese logic thought is not independently existed. Moreover, it intersects with other subjects, such as the history of Chinese philosophy and language.The fifth part is ending which express that the logic thought, which plays an important part in Chinese logic thought history, in "Mohist Debate" is the essence of Chinese logic thought.
