Research On Mohist Logic From The Perspective Of Informal Logic Qiu Jun

Mohist Logic is a kind of Applied Logic produced in the pre-Qin era.There are many inferences about "argument",which contain some rules of formal logic,but are not expressed in the form of formal logic.Among them,the informal logic features are very obvious,while the informal logic is an applied logic that does not focus on logical form.So it is a very good way to study Mohist Logic from the perspective of informal logic.Starting from the origin and content of Mohist"argumentation",this paper discusses the purpose and application of Mohist"argumentation"by means of informal logic and by means of comparison and interpretation.Although many inferences of Mohist logic serve for the practice of social political ethics,such as"Justice(Wei Yi,为义)","Condemning Offensive Warfare(Fei Gong,非攻)"and"Universal Love(Jian Ai,兼爱)",the"argumentation"itself is a science with its own laws,and its ultimate goal is to pursue"clear right and wrong".In Mohist Logic,there are a lot of argumentation analysis,listing a large number of inferences,but there is no research on the form of inference or proposition itself.The informal argumentation of Mohist Logic explores the basic inferential ways of"Causes(gu,故)","Reason(li,理)"and"Classes(lei,类)",analyzes the rationality of the conclusion drawn from the previous proposal,puts forward the requirements for the authenticity of the premise,uses a large number of metaphors and analogies to explain the object of argumentation,and uses the thinking mode of"two without bias"based on value judgment,etc.Mohist Logic also analyzes in particular"Illustrating(pi,辟)","Parallelizing(mou,侔)","Adducing(yuan,援)","Inferring(tui,推)","Stopping(zhi,止)"and other demonstration types and their related applications.At last,this paper analyzes Mohist Logic’s understanding and handling of fallacies from the perspective of informal logic.The concept is not clear,the improper use of argumentation,and the "paradox" of thinking itself,which can producefallacies,but the root cause lies in "Ignorance of the Classes".
