A Multi-angle Study On The "Zhi(之)" Structure In Modern Chinese

The structure of "之" in the modern Chinese with complicated composition and unique character is one kind of common structure. This thesis is under the direction of "three—plane" theory and the theory of prosodic syntaxes, using these combined ways as follows: form and meaning, diachronic and synchronic, static and dynamic, descriptive and interpretive to make a comprehensive investigation from various angles. In the investigation we strive to observe, describe and interpret adequately.The thesis mainly included the following parts:Introduction:to summarize the study of the present situation and significance; to limit the range of "之" structure and select out "之" structure accord with the study from the language data banks of Beking University in the modem Chinese; to introduce the study methods and the resources of linguistic.The first part is about the syntactic analysis of "之" structure.It investigates and analyses syntax unit of A points and B points; then investagates its grammaticalization process and syntactic characters and points out my opinions; at last investigates syntactic function.The second part is under the derection of the theory of prosodic syntaxes. This part analyses the prosodic situation of three word pattern,four word pattern and above the four word pattern from the phonological angle successively; and tries to explain the reasons occupying the predominance of the four word pattern "之" structure; at last analyses the prosodic characters of "之"In the third part, the semantic analysis of "之" structure. It investigates "之" structure from two aspects. Firstly, analyses the semantic points,including the simplex and double points; secondly investigates the semantic characters of "之" structure, pointing out the two main characters: actiation and diffuse; its enrichmentThe fourth part is about the pragmatic analysis of "之" structure from the pragmatic character,the pragmatic circumstances and the figure of speech. The most important pragmatic characters are its economy,aesthetic feelings and sobriety; this structure is often used in the jourlese,advertising type of writing and literary type of writing.Conclusion: to sum up the investigate of this thesis. It points out that:although "之" structure largely exists in themodern Chinese, it has its existing bases and its realistic significance. But because of its classic Chinese character, wo should deal with it scitifically andcorrectly from the linguistic aspects in the syntactic investigation and communication process.
