OKI Yasushi (1959-),professor of the Institute of Oriental Culture of Tokyo University, is well known in Japanese academic world for his achievements in studying the culture of Ming&Qing dynasties and Chinese light literature. He has become famous in this field in the recent 20 years but was seldom known by Chinese academicians. It's probably mostly because there have been no Chinese versions of his compositions in main land China so far. Therefore, to introduce OKI Yasushi roundly to Chinese academia is supposed to be valuable and seasonable, and it results in the producing of this paper eventually.The attention to Professor OKI is basically based on his 3 compositions: The Vagarious Intellectual in Late Ming Dynasty- Feng Menglong and Suzhou Culture; The Brothel Culture of China; and The Publication Culture of Late Ming Dynasty and the Southern Part of Yangtsi River.Chapter one is to help domestic scholars to understand OKI's researches, by explaining the three of his works. These three areas of studies are all based on Feng Menglong's perspective.Chapter Two combines the specific texts and concludes OKI's philosophy of study as:- Freely moving around China, Japan, past and present, with no boundaries.- Looking for the essence and the truth behind the scene,- Being innovative and showing originality,- Letting readers experience his thoughts by means of minute descriptions without explaining his ideas directly, and- Rich in humor, making readers feel relaxed.Chapter Three analyzes the approaches which OKI adopts:- Across multiple academic fields,- Multiple viewpoints on the same object, and- Combining various studying methods...
