Probe Into The Pauper Reformatory In Guangzhou City In The Period Of The Republic Of China (1928-1933)

In the period of the republic of china, famine and warfare happened frequently. There were quantities of disadvantaged groups in the society. In order to defend social stability, the citizen government established many stations to accommodate the poor crowd such as the vagrant house, the pauper reformatory and the relief institution etc. The people who lived in the relief stations can study and learn skills. These relief organizations broke through the traditional characteristics that only support the poor people without teaching them. They not only adopted and educated the pauper but also taught them some special technologies and common knowledge. They obviously had characteristics of the modern relief organizations.This thesis takes the pauper reformatory in Guangzhou City in the period of the republic of china as a target of research, to make an individual investigation of the case, so as to indicate the conditions of the relief organizations rescue for the disadvantaged groups and the effects of the rescuing action.
