Poems and lyrics were given birth to the same family. Chinese poems also has the tradition of being combined to music, and lyrics, as one kind of musical literature, have the beauty of both poems and music. The earliest collection of poems in Chineseliterature history-《Book of Odes》, the poems in Han and Wei dynasty, the poemsin Tang lyrics in Song lyrics in Yuan dynasty, and the aria in Ming and Qing dynasty, can be called popular song in Chinese literature and art history. Poems and lyrics were parted for some time and combined for some time, brought about a long developing history of Chinese poems. After the New Culture Movement in the early 20th century, a brand-new style of poems originated. It was very different from the traditional poems in words metre, and style, and these differences brought a decollation to this new poems and lyrics. Although lyrics were also regarded as one kind of poems in the history of literature, it has never been called poem from then on. For the last century, lyrics were adhered to music, being a part of a song. It has never been appreciated or studied as an independent part, there was few researcher who took lyrics as one kind of poems either.However, lyrics never declined. On the contrary, it won its prosperity on its developing road.
