Lyrics of songs are special language that has poetic quality. They are called poetic language, or language which is created poetically. They are not only the pick of life in practice, but also the expression and sublimation of emotion. Lyrics are a reflection on the society what comes from the mental product of meticulous observation of real life. They just like mirrors that reflect the state of human life, emotional needs and aesthetic appreciation. On one hand, the rhyme has vocal features because these special linguistic symbols are"written for sing"; on the other hand, their content has poetic features because they are not only the true portrayal of"hungry people sing of the food, workers sing of the work", but also ideological weapons to infect people, educate people, inspire people and influence people. As the most universal and influential phenomenon of linguistic culture, lyrics of songs have a wide range of social function, they reflect the social life, and more importantly they have profound impact on the human life in all aspects.Modern-day lyrics are the true and vivid reflection on modern human life, so the linguistic characteristics are different from the ancient songs. On this mind, this paper is going to study the modern-day lyrics to explore the infinite mystery which is implied in the poetic art language.Basic on the basic theory and research methods of semiotics, this paper will have a comprehensive interpretation of generation, communication and consumption of the special poetic language symbol—lyrics of songs. And we will try to explore its ideological content and artistic charm, and then reveal the unique social function and art law.
