Among the many factors which helped the rising and establishing of the elegantCi in Tang & Song Dynasty, the influence from the poems written in late TangDynasty can not be ignored. Li Shangyin, as an excellent poet in late Tang, did notwrite any Ci all through his life, but in fact his poems have a close relation with Ci inmany aspects. However, this issue has not been paid enough attention both in thestudy of the influence of Li Shangyin's poems and in the research of Ci's origination.To study the relationship between Li shangyin's poems and the elegant Ci in Tang &Song Dynasty, on the one hand, we can go a step further to grip Li Shangyin'sachievement and status in the history of literary;on the other hand, we can have aclearer and deeper understanding to the origination of the special characteristic of theelegant Ci in Tang & Song Dynasty.The present thesis is based on extensive and intensive reading of Li Shangyin'spoems and the elegant Ci in Tang & Song Dynasty. It takes Chinese classical theoryof poem and Ci as its chief theory basis, simultaneously;it uses some relevant theoryof the west world, such as Arthur Schopenhauer's Life Philosophy, Carl GustavJung's Psychology, the Feminist literary theory, Literary Semiotics, Aesthetics ofReception. In the thesis, Li Shangyin's poems and the elegant Ci in Tang & SongDynasty are compared from three main aspects as below:Chapter one: From the aspect of content, it analyses and discourses on theinfluence on the elegant Ci in Tang & Song Dynasty by Li Shangyin's poems. Itcontains three minor aspects according to an easy-to-deep order: First, the sincerityand purity in the expression of love;Second, the show of dual sentiment caused bythe mixture of love and individual life;Third, the dual melody of losing & seekingand the poets' attitude towards life reflected by the expression of this dual melody.Chapter two: From the aspect of style, it analyses and discourses on thereception of Li Shangyin's poems by the elegant Ci in Tang & Song Dynasty. Itcontains four minor aspects: First, beautiful language;Second, delicate image;Third,flexible structure;Fourth, deep feelings and lasting meaning.Chapter three: From the aspect of title, it analyses and discourses on theresemblance of Li Shangyin's poems and the elegant Ci in Tang & Song Dynasty. Itcontains two minor aspects: First, the anti-utilitarianism from the aspect of poet'swriting attitude;Second, the openness of text from the aspect of reader's reception.From the comparison, it can be concluded that the relationship between LiShangyin's poems and the elegant Ci in Tang & Song Dynasty is very close, and thatLi Shangyin's poems played an important role in the transform from the poem in TangDynasty to Ci in Song Dynasty.
