On Translation Criticism On The Literature Of International Business

Translation criticism, which is of great theoretical and practical significance, is regarded as an important branch of translatology. However, people tend to take translation studies as literary translation studies, thus the difference between them becoming ambiguous. And it is the same with the field of translation criticism. People always take translation criticism as literary translation criticism only, ignoring the translation criticism on the literature of international business which is becoming more and more important as the trans(?)ltural communication is growing rapidly.This dissertation is a tentative attempt at translation criticism, aiming to establish a theoretical framework of translation criticism on the literature of international business in the light of influential contemporary translation criticism theories.The first chapter is an introduction to the definition and classification of translation criticism.In the second chapter, after having conducted a literature review over the theoretical status and previous researches by other scholars on translation criticism, the author points out the problems yet to be solved. And then the author studies the nature, typology, function, criterion and methodology of translation criticism in general. Besides, the author also analyzes the relationship between translation criticism and translation theories at the end of this chapter.In the third chapter, the author renders a definition of international business and classifies the literature of international business into the pragmatic type from the traditional perspective and the content-focused type in accordance with K. Reiss' theory. The author also presents a detailed description about the language style of the literature of international business and the relationship between literary translation criticism and criticism on the literature of international business. This chapter ends with the analysis of functions of translation criticism on the literature of international business.In the fourth chapter, the author makes comprehensive researches on the subject and object of translation criticism on the literature of international business. After that,the author puts forward his own suggestions of the criteria and methodology of translation criticism on the literature of international business in accordance with his previous researches. When the critic is to conduct criticism, he/she should take various subjective and objective factors into consideration and adopt different criteria. The criteria should be reader-oriented, by which the critic judges whether the translation is faithful to the original text and whether the true information of the source language is naturally-represented in the target language. The methodology can be varied from contrastive analysis, experimental analysis to meta- criticism.In the fifth chapter, as conclusion of this dissertation, based on a general review of his previous researches, the author makes a systematic conclusion of the framework for translation criticism on the literature of international business.
