As far as we know the farmers gathered and resided in one place, thereby it became a village. It is one of the important problems that the historical geography focuses on.Based on the research of the elders, the author explores the new historical texts deeply and uses the related theories and methods: historical geography, landscape ecology, landscape design, architecture, sociology, folklore and ethnology, makes a systematic study and discusses in the landscapes and its vicissitudes of Suzhou villages in Ming and Qing dynasty, such as the natural landscapes of villages, the spacial distribution of villages, the traditional houses of villages, the productive landscapes of villages and the cultural landscapes of villages. Based on the study, the paper wants to expound the Chinese traditional environmental proposition -"Integration of Nature and Man", the landscapes and its vicissitudes of Suzhou villages and towns and emphasize the rules of urbanization in Jiangnan villages.
