It is an important study of the relation between the imperial examinations and the literature. Many scholars have got great achievements in this field. However, this study on Ming and Qing dynasty drops further behind that on Tang and Song. Based on the learning productions in existence, this text collect a lot of literacy works and historical data, in order to recur the survival circumstance of poetry in Ming dynasty under the shadow of imperial examinations. This discussion contains five aspects. The imperial examinations restricted the reading scope of examinees and shapped the utilitarian view about the poem. The imperial examinations contributed to the aesthetic characters of poem in Ming dynasty like imitation, vapidity, lethargy and so on. The techniques of stereotyped writings were applied in poem learning because of the structural common. Shujishi had lots of advantages to indite poems, but few of them could get to the top. This discussion states that the imperial examinations have partial but not primary negative impacts on the poetry in Ming dynasty.
