The Study On Variant Forms Of Chinese Characters In Turpan Unearthed Documents

During 1959 to 1975, lots of Chinese documents, which are called "turpan documents", were discovered in Xinjiang ASiDaNa and hara and turpan county. Its Chinese characters were in the the stage running from official script to regular script, running script, then cursive mature. The documents that save many unique words used in Chinese history have played important role in development of Chinese character. And the excavated documents with rich category has strong literature authenticity, high quantity, thus it can reflect the basic character of Chinese characters used during that time, so it contens great meaning to study on these Chinese characters.Variant Forms is an important kind of Chinese characters used in turpan unearthed documents, so Variant Forms are taken as the research object in this paper. We first define the concept and types of variant forms, and give explaination with phrase examples, finally we elaborate its use features, causes and significance and so on.This paper is divided into five chapters:the first chapter "introduction" mainly discusses why the author selects this subject, its current study progress and defects of current studies on this subject, also the author's ideas and approaches for this study; Chapter 2 "variant forms a summary", mainly discusses the definition and research status variant forms; The third chapter study the Chinese characters classified by athour thoroughly; The fourth chapter discusses the issues related with turpan unearthed documents, including its functional quality, the causes for these Chinese characters, and the significance for this research.
