The Research About Yuan Dyansty West Kingdom Aritist Kegong Gao And His Landscape

Kegong Gao is one of the most important representative of the painting change in Nan-Song and Yuan Dynasties. However, there is little research about Kegong Gao due to the lack of the historical literatures. Based on the available literatures and the existing study results, this thesis study the Kegong Gao's paintings in two ways. One is the formation of the landscape paintings of Kegong Gao; Another is the contribution to the integration of all ethnic groups and cross-cultural communication during the early Yuan Dynasty, and the influence on the later generations.Thus, this thesis studies the landscape paintings of Kegong Gao from four aspects. Firstly, we introduce the change of painting characteristic in the early Yuan Dynasty and provide the living background of Kegong Gao. Secondly, we research the Kegong Gao's life, contains his family member, his friends and travels, especially on the influence happening during the travel with the personages in Jiangnan. What's more, we research the commendable attempt and the contribution to the integration of all ethnic groups and cross-cultural communication by Kegong Gao. Thirdly, we discuss the origin of his representative work:transverse cloud and beautiful mountains picture take it as the standard dating scale, and do some comparison with Dong Yuan's painting characteristic; Then, we conclude the development and evolution of Gao's painting; Finally, the proper rank and appreciation are given to Gao for his contribution to Chinese painting and cultural exchange.
