| Zaozhuang dialect belongs to the Zhongyuan dialect of northern mandarin chinese as well as to the west part of Shandong dialect. Compared with mandarin, Zaozhuang dialect enjoys the characteristic grammar, especially notional word-formation, so this paper conducts a through and deep study of formation of nouns, verbs and adjectives in Zaozhuang dialect. Besides introduction and conclusion, this paper consists of three chapters.In Introdution, at first, there is a brief account of Zaozhuang geographic position and the category to which Zaozhuang dialect belongs; after that, the paper makes a detailed summary and comment of the current state of this study, including the study situation of the Chinese dialect grammar, the study features of the Chinese dialect grammar and the present research state of Zaozhuang dialect grammar; the final part of introduction is devoted to the research methods of this paper, i.e. field work, questionaire, description and comparison.The first chapter Noun Word Formation first discusses single-morpheme noun word- formation. The analysis shows that in Zaozhuang dialect there are a lot of single-morpheme nouns whose counterparts are double-morpheme nouns in mandarin or no relevant counterparts. The following analyzes the compound noun-formation. Compound nouns defy supplement type in Zaozhuang dialect, which is its typical feature. Compound nouns formed by affixation are common in Zaozhuang dialect, prefixes including"lao,""da,""bu,""qi,"etc, infixes including"bu,""lou,""ba"etc; and suffixes"zi,""er,""tou,""jia,""lai,""ba,""bazi,""huo,""gui,""yang,""xiong"etc. In Zaozhuang dialect, nouns formed by reduplication are mainly single-morpheme nouns, i.e. reduplicated nouns while few are reduplicated compounds.The second chapter Verb Word Formation first discusses single-morpheme verb word- formation. According to the analysis, a lot of single-morpheme verbs exist in Zaozhuang dialect, similar to double-morpheme verbs in mandarin, showing typical regional character. There are two more single-morpheme general verbs zhi and lie. Next, this chapter discusses the compound verb-formation. Verbs formed by compound are alomost the same as those in mandarin. The grammar of Zaozhuang dialect is characterized by the abundance of verbs constructed by affixation, such as verb suffixes"bu,""lou,""cha,""hu,""me""teng,""dao,""dao,"etc. But verbs formed by reduplication are few and the latter syllable (or morpheme) is weakly pronounced.The third chapter Adjective Word Formation puts stress on affixation in constructing adjective word- formation in Zaozhuang dialect. The analysis concludes that adjectives of Zaozhuang dialect share richful affixes, with prefixes of"liu,""jiao,""tie,""ban,"etc, infixes including"bu,""buzi,"and"lu"etc; and suffixes"bu,""hu,""dehong,""bujide,""bulaji,""lebaji,""bulaiwai,""lachade,"etc.In the Conclusion part, the paper summarizes that the abundant use of affixation in notional word-formation is the main prominent character of Zaozhuang dialect. |
