Objectives: To observe the clinical therapeutic effects of the acupuncture and acupoint application treatment curing the peripheral facial paralysis.Methods: 90 cases of peripheral facial paralysis were averagely divided into 2 groups randomly, experimental group and control group. The experimental group was treated by acupuncture and acupoint application treatment, the control one by pure acupuncture treatment; once a day, six days a week for four weeks. After treatment, use the Toronto Facial Grading System to value the improvement of symptoms of the two group'cases, and statistics the data by SPSS17.0.Results: The statistical analysis of the data shows1,Before the treatment, the baseline comparison of two groups on sex, illness position, age range & average age, illness course range & average course haven't obvious difference.2,The Toronto Facial Grading results showed significant difference between the two groups, before and 2 weeks after treatment.3,The Toronto Facial Grading results showed significant difference between the two groups, before and 4 weeks after treatment.4,The Toronto Facial Grading results showed significant difference between the two groups, 2 weeks and 4 weeks after treatment.5,The Toronto Facial Grading results and symptom improvement showed significant difference before and after treatment6,Efficiency of the two groups showed significant difference after treatment. (P<0.05)7,Total availability of the two groups showed significant difference after treatment. (P<0.05) Conclusions:1,The acupuncture & acupoint application treatment and the pure acupuncture treatment both can improve the clinical symptoms of peripheral facial paralysis, but the former is better.2,The acupoint application treatment can improve the clinical symptoms of peripheral facial paralysis.
