Observation Of Long-term Therapeutic Effect Of Deep Electro-acupuncture At Tian Shu (ST25) For Treatment Of Functional Constipation

ObjectivesThe aim of this Clinical Research was to observe the long-term impact of the main sysptoms of Functional Constipation with the treatment of Tianshu Point by deep electronic-acupuncture, and to explore the mechanism and methods of keeping long-term efficacy of Functional Constipation.MethodsA total of 65 Standard patients with Functional Constipation were divided into three groups, which 24 cases are treated with the deep insertion of Tianshu point as a treated group,21 cases treated with the routine insertion of Tianshu point and 20 cases treated with oral lactulose(15ml qn) as control group respectively. Every patient was treated 4 weeks,and 5 times a week.ResultsThe Cleveland Clinic Score of three groups significantly Decreased than treatment before. The deep acupuncture of Tianshu treatment group, at the 1 week,4 weeks,12 weeks after the treatment finished, the scores of main symptoms of functional constipation were significantly lower than the control group, but at 6 months after the treatment finished, the scores of main symptoms of functional constipation were no significant than the control group.Only one case was reported diarrhea after taking drugs, there were no nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and other adverse reactions reported.ConclusionsThe treatment of Tianshu Point by deep electronic-acupuncture appear to be good at long-term effect and safe of Functional Constipation, the mechanism may come from the activation of the body selfregulation by nervous system and promote the repairing of the colonic nerve muscle tissue by the strong stimulation through the peritoneum.
