Objective:To detect the normal, Sjogren's syndrome-related tear deficiency dry eye (SSTD) and non-SS dry eye the tear deficiency (NSTD) in patients with tear lactoferrin concentration, to compare their differences; and study of acupuncture before and after the tear deficiency dry eye (ATD) in patients with tear lactoferrin concentration in a preliminary study of the modern medical acupuncture for treatment of dry eye mechanism. Methods:Selected met the inclusion criteria of the 10 normal cases,10 SSTD patients and 20 cases of patients NSTD as a research object (SSTD patients and NSTD patients were from the Nanjing Chinese Medicine Hospital), using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay-based detection of the single-lens reflex tear lactoferrin protein concentration, and compare the differences; of 20 cases treated with acupuncture treatment NSTD three courses (time of month), compared NSTD acupuncture before and after treatment in patients with tear lactoferrin concentration in the basis of the differences and to tear flow and tear film break-up time as an auxiliary index for statistical analysis. Results:The experimental observation that, NSTD patient group tear lactoferrin concentrations were lower than normal, there is statistically significant (F=41.279, P<0.01), SSTD patient group tear lactoferrin concentrations were lower than normal, there is statistically significant (F =20.188,P<0.01); SSTD patient group and patient group NSTD tear lactoferrin concentration difference was not statistically significant (F=1.131,P=0.292> 0.05); conscious patients after acupuncture NSTD Symptoms improved in varying degrees, tear film break-up time was significantly longer (F=303.220, P<0.01),tears flow increased (F=232.716, P<0.01),the differences were statistically significant. NSTD after acupuncture in patients with tear lactoferrin concentration tended to increase, but compared with those before treatment, no statistically significant difference (F=2.677, P=0.106> 0.05).Conclusion:ELISA detection of tear lactoferrin can be used as diagnosis of dry eye and dry eye treatments to determine effects of a variety of specific indicators, suitable for clinical practice; The study also confirmed the lack of acupuncture on the tear of dry eye efficacy, but also suggest that acupuncture on the tear deficiency dry eye clinical efficacy may not be by increasing the concentration of tear lactoferrin to achieve, and the specific pathways need further study.
